Over the last two or three years we have stayed in the UK for our breaks as Many people have.

Over the last 4 weeks, I booked a couple of cottages for differing reasons through Sykes cottages. I wanted to write this short note focussing on the second of the two bookings.

We opted for a quiet coastal village by the name of Atwick, a pleasant place within close proximity of a couple of main towns, Bridlington and Hornsea. I should also add that I would absolutely stay in the village again. Sadly I wouldn’t stay at the “Auction House” again though for a plethora of reasons.

However my focus in this short note on Sykes cottages is there apparent desire to pick and choose which reviews they publish. My first booking the review was posted quite quickly. However when I posted my second review, this has never appeared.

Additionally the property only has one review, something which rarely concerns me at the time of booking for various reasons.

Dig a little deeper however and it would appear that there is a history of Sykes deleting reviews, and no publishing reviews in the first instance. This presents a completely skewed mis-representation of many of their properties. Some of which it would appear that there are clear health and safety issues.

Happy to answer questions via message should you wish to ask. For the sake of clarity, we’ve booked a number of breaks via Sally’s cottages, Laterooms cottages and direct with cottage owners and rarely encountered issues that couldn’t not be fixed.
